Visuals — Privacy Policy

Visuals is a local-first media browser for Mac, iPhone and iPad. Your photos, videos and library stay with you.

What Visuals does not do

• Visuals does not have user accounts.
• Visuals does not use analytics, advertising or tracking services.
• Visuals never uploads your photos, videos, tags, captions or any other library content to us. We have no way to see your library.
• Visuals does not share information with third parties.

Where your data lives

All media and library information is stored on your device. If you choose, your library's tags, favourites, albums, captions and people can sync between your own devices through iCloud, under your Apple ID. That sync is handled by Apple; we cannot read it. The only things Visuals ever sends

Two things, both anonymous:

• An update check, so the app can tell you when a new version is available. It fetches a small file from GitHub; nothing about you is included.
  
• A first-run count, once. The first time a copy of Visuals is opened, it fetches a small file from GitHub so we can count how many people try the app. Nothing about you or your Mac is sent; GitHub simply counts the fetch.

Buying Visuals

On the App Store, purchases are handled by Apple. Visuals never sees or stores payment details.

On bloosoftware.com, payment is handled by Stripe; we never see your card details. To deliver and activate your licence we keep your email address and licence key. Activating Visuals sends that email address and key to our activation service, which checks them and occasionally re-checks the key. That is the only personal information Visuals ever transmits, and only if you bought a licence from us directly.

Future changes

If a future version of Visuals collects anything beyond what is described here, this policy will be updated and the change will be clearly communicated in the app before any data is collected.
